Watch: The First Selma Trailer

This evening, the first trailer for the upcoming MLK drama Selma came out. This has been one of the bigger question marks in this award season (see if I've predicted it for any Oscars here), as it has not shown up anywhere. But with 30 minutes of the film getting ready to debut in a few days at the AFI Fest in Los Angeles, now is a better time than any to show some footage.

Personally, despite the music choices being really interesting for a biopic, I think it looks rather standard. There was nothing that jumped out at being especially good, but in a more troubling turn, there was an awful looking element in Tim Roth. I still hold out hope for the film, however, and I can't wait to see how it turns out on January 9th when it expands wide after a limited December 25th run in NY and LA.
