Fall Pilot Wrap-Up: Part 2

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland

Broadcast by:
ABC (USA), CityTV (Canada)

It wasn't memorable. It was boring and unproductive. It has terrible CGI. It was tedious. I wish that it was better. I thought that it could've been a lot better. Most everything can be. But yeah, I have nothing else to say about it, it's just so bland.

Technically, this is the best network pilot of the fall. The sets are ravishing. The score works incredibly well. The special effects are wonderful, in particular a sequence involving lights is beautiful. The acting was very good. The American accent from Jonathan Rhys Meyers is great and convincing It's beautifully shot. And the story didn't go for a gore fest like it could've, it was legitimately interesting. I was ready to give this an A-... until the final break. The final 5 minutes were so out of place and startling that it almost completely ruined it. But, in the end, I really liked it, even though the final minutes weren't good at all.

Almost Human

Sleek, sure, but this is style over substance. I do like Karl Urban and Michael Ealy, but they weren't enough to save it.
